It’s year 2025, three decades since the early ’90s punk movement Riot Grrrl emerged. When the legendary Bikini Kill sings about living in a world “fucking goddamn full of rape,” I reflect on my reality as a feminist today-how, despite progress since the third wave of feminism, women and queer people worldwide still face discrimination simply for existing. We live in an era marked by the rise of conservative politicians who openly spread hate and transphobia, fueling debates over how many Genders exist—like when Trump declared there are only two—effectively denying and erasing both the queer community and its history.
